About The Event
ATTENTION ALL MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
February is the time of year when we celebrate the many different African- American faces that have helped shape our society for the better. Whether it be in government, social justice, art, dance, photography, culinary, sports, and so on, we celebrate all the men and women that have helped pave the way for all of us.
Eastside Community Development Corporation, alongside with the Independent Charleston Black Lives Matter, presents our first Black History Month Art Program. On Saturday, February 27, 2021, you will present your artwork in an art program for all Charleston County to view! Guests will come and view which famous African- American artist you decided to honor or Civil Rights image you decided to recreate. Guests will have the option to auction on your artwork. The best part... 100% of the auction proceeds go to... YOU!
Our workshop, Saturday, February 13th, is for you to choose which African- American artist and one of their famous pieces you would like to recreate by painting; or choose one famous Civil Rights Movement image you would like to recreate by photograph. Your work will be presented in the Art Program, Saturday, February 27, 2021, to be auctioned on.
*Disclaimer: Parent(s)/ Guardian(s), there will be a photo release form to sign for the workshop and the Art Program. Please take a few moments to review and sign release form for your child.*
